Live Music Festivals and Outdoor Events

Phil has developed a particular expertise in the licensing of outdoor events and live music festivals and has dealt with numerous applications over the years including representing clients before licensing committees and on appeals to magistrates’ courts in various parts of the country.

This area of licensing law is recognised for its particular complexity and involves the careful drafting of applications, including the preparation of detailed operating schedules and drafting conditions to demonstrate how the licensing objectives will be promoted together with strategic planning for evidence required for hearings. Phil’s experience and expertise in the licensing of outdoor events and music festivals includes also advising on details to include in licensing drawings and Event Management Plans; attending Safety Advisory Group meetings and meetings with local residents and residents’ associations; compliance with The Purple Guide and consideration of acoustic issues under the Code of Practice on Environmental Noise Control at Concerts and licensing authorities’ Licensing Policies.
