Phil Crier PBC Licensing SolicitorPhil qualified as a solicitor in 1983 and started his career in Manchester before moving to Nottingham Magistrates’ Court where he was a senior licensing clerk for two years. Phil entered private practice in 1988 joining a Nottingham firm to specialise in the field of licensing law. He moved to Edge Ellison (now Squire Patton Boggs) as a licensing partner in Birmingham in 1996 before joining Blake Lapthorn in 2000 as a partner and Head of the Licensing Department where he remained until setting up his own niche practice in 2013.

During Phil’s career, he has dealt with all types of licensing applications under both under the old and new licensing regimes. He has represented national Plc’s and leisure companies, organisations and private individuals in all parts of the country both in the magistrates’ court and before council licensing committees.  Phil is a very experienced advocate with a keen eye for detail and during his career has successfully dealt with many high profile and complex cases including Judicial Review cases in the High Court.  He has a particular specialism in the licensing of outdoor events and live music festivals and dealing with regulatory ‘noise law’ matters.
